Thanks for the details on your use. I bought a Samsung Tab 9FE for $200 and write mostly in Microsoft OneNote. Previously I had used an iPad Air with plastic screen protector.

I'm encouraged to see advancements in screen tech to support handwriting as glossy is a terrible experience (in general).

That is a good price for the Tab S9FE! I think using the SPen's softer tip is relatively better for glossy screens, as the hard tips found with many active styli have less friction. Have a look at XPPen Magic Note Pad - it has a matte texture and is more directed at note-taking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXoHq2offvU&ab_channel

You're absolutely right on the soft pen tip with the S-Pen and I like it better than other digital pens including Apple's. People seem to really want to get the "friction" element right with these solutions. I understand it because you have to break in a new pen when you change devices/styli.

Thank you for the recommendation on the XPPen device...somehow I missed it. I have some homework this weekend to do. 😎

Thanks for this explanation of the nano etched technology and the comparison with epaper. I recently bought a low dollar tablet and added an aftermarket plastic matte screen for improved handwriting. Maybe the next device will have the nano tech included, giving digital ink a greater usage vs typing.

Thanks for the comment!

Nano-level anti-glare etching technology is gradually growing, so I hope to see more devices available. I use a Huawei Matepad 11.5 S Papermatte, and the matte finish is very effective in eliminating light interference - in dark mode, the screen gets pitch black. With the dark mode activated, I turn on monochrome eBook mode when reading. I wouldn't say it is close to E Ink regarding eye comfort, but it is the next best thing regarding light-emitting displays. I also like to write in Google Docs with the dark theme activated. While the Papermatte display is smooth, it is much better for writing than a glossy screen. Overall, the nano-level anti-glare etching technology isn't a marketing gimmick - it does help reduce eye strain and significantly upgrades glossy screens.
